Don't forget, if you have green water problems, they can be reduced by ensuring the aquarium is not positioned so as to receive too much natural light, reduce artificial illumination (eight hours per day being around optimum), increase partial water changes (always using a gravel cleaner to remove mulm) and reduce quantity of fish feed. All these measures may well eliminate or drastically reduce your problems with algae.
