Herts Aquatics supply a wide range of pond pumps design for various tasks from a range of leading manufacturers.
Before selecting a pump you need to know what function the pump will be performing. If you are keeping fish in your pond and need to drive a filter system or large water feature you probably require a solids handling pump that is designed to allow any fish waste pass straight through the pump without causing it to clog.
If you require a water feature such as a fountain you may wish to consider a pump that is design to supply a filter and a water feature at the same time.
The next consideration is how powerful your pump needs to be and how much water it is capable of pumping. There are two figures you need to consider when selecting a pump. The first is the volume of water the pump will move in a given time period, the second is how high the pump will pump the water before it’s performance falls of too much. The higher and further your pump must pump the water the more the flow will drop, if in doubt choose a slightly larger pump.
The last consideration is how much your new pump will cost to run. Some pumps are cheaper to run than others. Such models such as the Aquamax range from Oase have a slightly higher initial cost but are amongst the cheapest pumps to run.
